All of the pipe bands between Kamloops and Penticton were very busy over the past few days as Canada Day makes use of pipe bands as part of the celebrations as well as highland dancers.  Then, West Kelowna had it’s parade, Saturday, July 2 with the Kelowna Pipe Band front and center then it was off to Penticton in the afternoon for the Penticton Highland Festival.  Pipe Band competitions, solo piper competitions, drummer competitions and highland dance competition were underway all over the place with the heavy events in the background.  Today, the first day of Piping Hot Summer Drummer saw over 200 pipers, drummers and dancers getting their instruction from camp leader, Jack Lee as they headed in to a week of instruction and playing at Silver Star Mountain Resort.  This will be followed by a second week of similiar activity with the Kamloops Highland Games in between the camps.  Many of the pipers, drummers and dancers will be staying around for the third annual Okanagan Military Tattoo July 23 and 24.  What a month to be a Scot or wannabe Scot!!
